Pacific Specialty Home Insurance Review

Pacific Specialty Insurance Company has been servicing customers for well over 30 years. They are an admitted company within all 50 states, including the District of Columbia and are based out of Menlo Park, California. Admitted is the stamp that you receive when you have met all government regulations for the insurance industry and they have done so for all 50 states. McGraw Insurance Services administers the Pacific Specialty Insurance policies which are sold explicitly through independent agents. Online quoting is not available for policyholders, however, there are online services for accessing accounts and for claims.

Pacific Specialty has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2016 with an A rating. They have A- ranking for financial strength rating with A.M. Best. Their website is rather vague as to passing out quotes and not providing a whole lot of specific information. You actually have to call an agent to find out any real hardcore facts.

There are a few ways that you can save money with Pacific Specialty.

Basing the homeowners insurance value on the replacement cost of your home makes setting the appropriate amount a very crucial aspect of buying your homeowners policy. With Pacific Specialty, they have a team of specialists with access to tools that help them to evaluate the fundamentals of your home in order to give you appropriate suggestions on the coverage you should opt for. In the instance that you receive a total loss claim, there is also Extended Replacement Cost Coverage that will provide additional coverage for you allowing that you will have more than enough to rebuild. Also, while the home is uninhabitable they will provide Additional Living Expenses while the rebuild is happening.

In order to get your premium rates reduced you can have your deductible set to where you would like it with a range beginning at $500 going all the way up to $5,000.

Coverage A – Dwelling: The residence as described will be covered at 100% of replacement cost without a deduction for depreciation.

Dwellings that hold replacement costs above $1,000,000 for new business and $1,100,000 for renewal. Acceptable replacement cost limit may be reduced for all risk subject to reinsurance placement and restriction.

Coverage B – Other Structure: Unattached private structures on insured premises covered at 10% of Coverage A amount.

Coverage C – Personal Property: Unscheduled personal property will be covered at 50% of Coverage A amount without deduction for depreciation. Items known to hold specific value have been designated special limits of liability.

Coverage D – Loss of Use: This will be covered at 20% of coverage A.

Claims Process

You are able to contact the claim department for Pacific Specialty 24/7 via fax, phone, or email and you can also report claims online by way of the customer portal where you are able to follow the claim as it progresses. Customer service has been given a reputation by a multitude of folks for being unresponsive, unfriendly, and unwilling to help.

Pacific Specialty does not have a good reputation as far as customer reviews represent. Some are actually seeking legal representation for the company’s unwillingness to process legitimate claims. They were treated horribly by this company and their representatives. Others indicate they are unresponsive by phone or email, very bad company to deal with. They would sincerely not recommend this company to anyone who needs homeowners insurance. There was actually one happy person who was satisfied with customer service and pleased with the company’s rates.
